The High Commissioner

Message from the High Commissioner

Welcome to the Official Website of the High Commission of the Republic of Namibia in

London!

We hope that you will find all the information on the website and its resources useful for getting news and information about Namibia. The website mainly covers the bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, trade and investment opportunities, travel and tourism, and consular services. Our Mission is accredited to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and concurrently covers the Hellenic Republic (Greece), Ireland, the Republic of Malta, the Sovereign Order of Malta and Wales. My main goal as the High Commissioner is to further enhance relations within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and International Maritime Organisation for the benefit of all Namibian citizens. We are committed to not only strengthening ties with our traditional allies but also to forge new partnerships with other developing nations particularly in the realms of trade, culture, and education. Furthermore, we seek to engage the vibrant Namibian diaspora who serve as valuable ambassadors and partners in our national development efforts. Namibia is located in Southern Africa and shares borders with Angola, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and offers a conducive environment for investment within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. It’s landscape include the Namib Desert, the Fish River Canyon, and Etosha National Park, and makes it a prime destination for eco-tourism and adventure seekers alike. Namibia offers an abundance of natural resources with a stable political environment with Windhoek, the capital city, serving as the the social, economic and political centre of the country, governmental body, educational and cultural institution. I hope you will find this website as a valuable resource for learning more about Namibia and our relationship with the United Kingdom, the Hellenic Republic (Greece), Ireland, the Republic of Malta, the Sovereign Order of Malta and Wales.

The High Commission - Our Story

The Namibian High Commission in London has been a cornerstone of Namibia's diplomatic presence in the United Kingdom since its establishment in 1990, following Namibia's independence from South Africa. Initially focused on forging strong bilateral relations and securing international support for the fledgling nation, the High Commission has evolved to address a broad spectrum of issues, including trade, investment, and tourism promotion. Over the years, it has played a pivotal role in fostering cultural exchanges and educational partnerships between Namibia and the UK. Today, the High Commission continues to be a vital link, facilitating diplomatic dialogue, supporting Namibian nationals in the UK, and promoting Namibia’s rich heritage and economic potential on the global stage.
